Spirits in the Wires

First project for my Screen II class.

The prompt (like so many this teacher gives) was quite random and vague: "use pattern and symbol to create a new composition!" ...or something like that. I don't entirely recall why I decided to do computer imagery; I think it may have been because one of the example images used a power symbol, and I thought the idea of wires growing out of a power symbol would be rather neat. Which is quite ironic, because this picture doesn't actually use a power symbol at all.

Anyway, this is essentially just me playing around with mixing organic and technical imagery. I do think the imagery of computers is quite interesting, with the wires possibly evoking nerve cells or something similar (and are living things not also governed by electrical impulses?) You can read a whole slew of symbolism about cyborgs and whatnot into this if you want; I generally steer away from such things. But just so you know, it's not an environmental piece. Seriously.

Title is borrowed from a Charles de Lint novel with vaguely the same idea.
