I should really get better at more frequent updates. Can't believe it's almost the end of July.
Anyway! Stuff that's going on.
-The Lap-Reluctant Cat
is a book I illustrated at the beginning of the year, finishing up in April. I posted a sampling of illustrations some time back, but the finished book is now available on Amazon as an ebook: tinyurl.com/m863tme
Do check it out if you are at all interested in cats or humor involving cats. While I'm of course biased, I think the final product looks great, and it's only $2.99 so it's a pretty good deal. (I am hoping there will eventually be a print version, but no word on that yet.)
is the game that I have been doing concept art for all year, and we're now getting ready to launch! Initial launch will be on August 10th, 2013
! Check out the website at weirspace.com
-As always, I will be at GenCon this year
in the Art Show. If you're there, stop by and say hi. No info on where in the show I'll be yet, exactly, but keep an eye out for Space Turtle and I shouldn't be too hard to find. I've got a bunch of new stuff up for sale this year, including new large prints
-Finally, an update on Parallel Parchment
. I had really hoped to get something out for September. Unfortunately, I was so busy with Weirspace and The Lap-Reluctant Cat, I haven't had much time to work on my own art. (I actually have a new Clockwork Bird that's been sitting, ready to paint, on my desk for 3 months now.) However, I did manage to get 2-3 pages pencilled ... and then when I was working on writing and plotting, I realized that I needed to take the story in a different direction than I had thought. This meant scrapping almost all of what I had already done and making some MAJOR shifts in terms of characters + plot. I think the story will be much better for it in the end, honestly, but it means another delay, possibly a very long delay, as I would like to plot out and script most of the story this time before I get to work on actual comic pages. This will be my NaNoWriMo project for this year. I am hoping to get a prologue up by the brand-new Indianapolis Comic Con coming March 2014, but I can't guarantee anything since Weirspace will probably continue to take up a lot of my time. Also, because the new direction I'm taking the story in is so different, I'm also abandoning the name 'Parallel Parchment.' Working title is currently Lanterns of Arcadia
, but that's subject to change. Sorry to anyone who was really looking forward to more of the comic. I'm also disappointed, because I really want to get this story out there, but I also want to put out the best version of the story, and paid work also has to take precedence.
